Day 3: March 20, 2012

Well day 3 was a rough one. Daddy went to work and Mom went down to the NICU to feed and hold Kailyn. After about 5 minutes her oxygen level dropped and the nurse had to move her back to bed. They said she just got too cozy and kinda got lazy on her breathing. They warned us about days like this. It's all because her central nervous system isn't developed yet. They started giving her theophylline in her feeding tube which is basically caffeine to stimulate her. Again, we're told it's very common for them to end up on it. So, we had a minimal stimulation day which was hard but we are grateful for the time we have held her! It was also a rough day because it was time for mom to go home! It was an emotional day to say the least and we know it won't be the last. Daddy came to get mom about 7 and took all our stuff home. Within 2 hours we were back visiting. During the day mom talked to the nurse and asked a favor. Since Grandma Melanie is sick right now and Grandpa Yaeger lives far away Daddy hasn't had any family able to visit Kailyn...so they gave permission for Uncle James to stand in as grandpa! This meant a lot to Daddy and Mommy! All in all it was a rough day on the roller coaster ride. But it was nice to be home together, and before we know it Kailyn will be home to complete our family!
