Day 2. Monday, March 19,2012

Day 2 was very eventful around here! Daddy was at work so Mom was sending him pictures every time she visited. When Mom went in for a visit Kailyn was tanning under the blue light. Her Bilirubin levels weren't really high enough to start it but they wanted to air on the side of caution because she apparently swallowed a lot of blood those last few days in mom's tummy. It was weird seeing her under that light! It seems to magnify every muscle and vein in her little body. She seemed to like it though. I teased that she looked like mom with her sleep mask and body pillow! We had a good day as far as being able to hold and feed. She tolerated being held for about 30 minutes each time and tolerated her feedings really well! Big brother Jake came to visit mom and saw the latest pictures and videos of his baby sister. We waited anxiously all day for Daddy to get off work. After he got here Daddy got to spend some time talking to Kailyn and give her lots of little kisses. Her weight dropped to 2lb 10oz but that's to be expected! She will put it back on soon! We also got to give Kailyn her first bath! It was so cool but at the same time kinda scary trying to bathe someone so tiny! She hated the bath but fell asleep in Daddy's hands while mom washed her hair. After bath time Daddy got to sit down and feed her and really hold her for the first time. Mom's heart melted watching Daddy watch his baby girl. And we had to put her new headband and flower on for a quick picture for her aunt Lacy. It looks huge but the flower is actually only about 4 inches across at the most!

  1. So excited you are doing a blog for her. Love the updates. She's such a precious little bundle. I remember those kangaroo care days! So sad for Jake, but they are right, that RSV is very real and very serious. LOVE the pic of tiny little Kailyn in Daddy's hands. So hard to imagine a person so small. Simply incredible. God is amazing.

  2. Robert, Ginger and Jake,

I wish there was a word I could say or a gift that I could give you that would somehow measure how happy I am for you all. I know that Kailyn has been a miracle from day one, and I see now that she continues to impress! Something tells me that this little angel will be a lifelong blessing to you all, and I know that you will all grow even closer as a family because of her. Isn't it amazing how one tiny person.....one more heartbeat in the room can change everything and bring so many people together? Take this gift and allow blessing to continue to flow over you all and know in your souls that good things do happen to good people, miracles are possible and that every day is a gift. I love you guys!
